Long before we got to the valley we were talking about how hungry we were. Llew and I had a huge pot of couscous with black beans and lentils that must have weighed 3lbs. We devoured that in less than 10minutes and made some pasta. Unknow to us at this point, this was going to be typical of our evening meals here in the valley. First an appetizer (which is a full meal) and then a 2nd equally large meal. Our snack food was only small granola bars and 2 tortillas with cheese or nutella. We definitely shamed ourselves in the food area on this trip. Never again!

Cerro Arco Iris
This is a 5hr hike and its all up and down. Its suppose to be difficult as ropes are needed in some of the middle sections of it. The views we got once we got above tree line were incredible. Katherine & Elizabeth seemed to enjoy it even though they hadn’t done something like this before. While up there another gal, Lily from Canada started hiking with us. I ended up calling her “Lily the Mountain Goat” as she scrambled around pretty good on that granite. Just don’t follow her if you want to stay on the trail though. haha! In some places it was difficult to figure out where the path was suppose to go as we couldn’t see any more cairns and the path was all on granite. Eventually we made it to the top for a spectacular view in all directions. We didn’t spent much time on top as we needed to get back down before dark. It was about 1300mts difference from the valley which equates to roughly 4000 ft. I’m not sure what the distance was but its not much as the trails are very steep here.
